Introduction Accommodation Bars & RestaurantsErcan Çolak has around 30 years experience of working in the hospitality business; he and his wife Monisha will be familiar faces to many around the village.
This year, Ercan fulfilled a long-standing ambition to run his own restaurant and opened at the Bondjuk Restaurant here in Turunc.
With experienced chef Cengiz in the kitchen, and supported by local family members, Ercan offers visitors authentic, traditional Turkish food.
Much Turkish cuisine is based on ancent recipies from Anatolia that have been passed down through generations of the family: it is these tastes and flavours that visitors to Bondjuk Restaurant can enjoy. Ercan descibes this as food that is cooked and eaten today by ordinary families, in their homes, all over Turkey
As will see when you visit, the dishes at Bondjuk Restaurant are refreshingly different to those on offer at most of the village restaurants.
A selection of cold and hot starters is offered including familiar dishes like Taze Fasulye (green beans in tomato dressing) and Peynirlı Börek (cheese rolls) alongside more unusal choices such as Şakşuka (Fried aubergines with tomato sauce dressing) and Anatolian İçli Köfte (Bulgur wheat balls with spiced mincemeat).
Main courses once again include well-known dishes like grilled seabass and a variety of steaks but intriguing, more traditional, Mesopotamian fayre like Karışık Dolma (stuffed vegetables with rice and minced meat), Izgara Tavuk (grilled chicken served with buttered vegetables and traditional bulgur pılav) and the restaurant speciality Kuzu Incik (oven-baked lamb shank, served with bulgur pılav and potato puree) are very tempting choices.
Bondjuk Restaurant offers diners a small but select choice of Turkish wines and local/international beers as well as cold and hot soft drinks and proper Turkish coffee.
Bondjuk Restaurant can be found at the top end of the village opposite the road to the Turunc Premium Hotel. It is open from May through October. Meals are served on the upstairs terrace with its airy and relaxing atmosphere. Ercan and the Bondjuk team look forward to welcoming you to this new venture and to delighting you with some delicious and very different meals.
