New road surfaces, new businesses opening, new buildings shooting up and a new bridge. There have also been numerous Christmas social events including a coffee morning for the school, at Tapas Mapas Restaurant which raised 1500TL. An after school club has also been organized every Wednesday, at the school, as a trial run.

The mountain road is also being resurfaced. The road to the top of the mountain from Turunç has been completed: these guys certainly do not hang about. I guesstimate the whole road will be completed in another 2 to 3 weeks. It has caused a bit of disruption as the road has been closed daily from 10am to 6pm. But where there's a will there's a way - via the Kumlubük mountain 'track' to the Bayır road. Breathtaking is an apt word to describe this journey!

It also seems to be the month of heavy pruning. (I just thought I'd like to throw in this random bit of information!)

December has been colder this year with night time temperatures plummeting to 2 degrees, but there has been plenty of glorious sunshine and the turtles are still in the bay. There have also been a few rainy days.

There is also some very sad December news. Kevin Smith - "Kev the Wev" - passed away on December 30th. Many of us have avidly followed his informative and entertaining posts and stunning pictures on the "Who loves Turunc" Facebook page. He was a very much loved, respected and active member of the community and will be greatly missed. We send our love and condolences to his mum Jenny. RIP Kev.

That wraps it up for 2016. I wish you good health and happiness for 2017 and all we are asking, is give peace a chance.

Gürüşürüz!
