Well another year comes to an end and what a wet and wild time we have had here with a lot of rain (which we usually get in the new year) and even a tornado which was captured on film near Dalaman Airport.

There's not been much olive picking this year. Olives are generally gathered every other year with the black ones producing the most oil. It takes between 4-5 kilos of olives to produce one litre of oil. Once picked they are generally taken to Muğla where they are weighed and pressed and then the oil is returned to the owner.

The mountain road closed on 4th December for a month, fingers crossed, as new water pipes are being laid to bring us drinking water! It has meant a perilous extra 30 minute drive via Osmaniye which has just been dirt at times or an extra 40 minutes plus 25km via Bayır. Let's hope it's worth it and that they finish on time.

A pre Christmas table top sale was held in Fidan Bar to raise money for Turunç street cats. It was really well supported and raised well over 20,000tl.

Another fund raiser took place on Sunday 17th December, this time to raise much needed funds for the school PTA. Tapas Mapas hosted this event with a three-course meal and last minute entertainment being provided by a band including a local resident, Paul Aldred on guitar. Many thanks to the kitchen workers who many of you will recognise and everyone who attended raising a massive 33,560tl.

Still lots of building works going on in and round the village. There are three new developments on the mountain, two of which will be visible as you drive in. Two new villas on the site of the old Gökçe pool, a new build opposite the Köşem Restaurant and another in front of Dores Residence. There are no further works being done at the moment on the building behind Palette Bar or the one opposite. Let's hope they haven't run out of money! Come back before the start of the new season for an update on building works.

Pasha Restaurant and Yalı are closed for a facelift.

And finally, a selection of the Christmas lights in Marmaris. Hope you have had a good Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

Gürüşürüz!
