We entered January and the New Year with a whimper. After a few heavy thunderstorms the river again ran through the village but only for a few days. Since then the weather has been glorious with temperatures hitting the mid 20’s most days.

The village is again very quiet: most restaurants and shops are closed for the season, Pasha and Yalı restaurants are the only two that remain open along with Frankie's Bar and Fidan Bar which are keeping us all fed and watered.

Land which is for sale is still fair game but, that said, there is a huge amount of construction work going on within the village and returning visitors will be interested to see how Turunç is changing.

New houses are being built on the back road further along past the old football pitch.

Work is happening at a fast pace improving the Turunç Resort Hotel.

Past visitors and locals will find it very sad that Çardak Restaurant (which opened in 1965 as the first restaurant in Turunç) is being partly demolished and will now be a smaller café / restaurant alongside three new retail units which will sell handbags, shoes and clothing.

Further along by the Tea Garden, and in front of Körfez Restaurant, new piping is being laid for improved sewerage. Unfortunately the sea front walkway is completely dug up and only passible with care. Hopefully it will be repaired for the new season.

Sad news for many previous visitors to Turunç is that Surmen restaurant closed at the end of last season. The good news is has been taken over by Sezgin Demir the owner of Yalı, and it is now going through major renovation work, we wish Sezgin good fortune in his new venture.

Further along Turunç Premium Hotel is extending its terrace area.

As you look out towards sea, the vista is stunning with clear blue skies. Turunç is a beautiful village. In winter on a clear day in the distance you can see the snow-capped mountains. Visit it this year (and I hope you will) and enjoy this glorious and welcoming holiday gem.

Gürüşürüz!
