Introduction Accommodation Bars & RestaurantsNow in its 10th year of operation, Oba09 (or just "Obam's") has become a firm favourite with new and returning visitors to Turunç who appreciate its fantastic seafront location, impeccable service and delicious meals.
An Oba is a Turkish tent, used for hundreds of years by the nomadic people of Turkey. In Turkish, Obam means 'my tent' and at Oba09 you can enjoy a wide range of European and traditional Turkish dishes - many of which cannot be found elsewhere in the village.
The star attractions of the menu at Oba09 are of course their chicken, lamb and beef 'crock pot' casseroles. Part theatre, part gourmet-quality cuisine, these dishes are delivered to your table in a closed crock-pot, on a flaming tray which owner "Obam" then proceeds to crack open (to applause) in front of you: an experience not to be missed! The restaurant has expanded its menu with new Ottoman-style dishes such as Mutancana - chicken with almonds. Gluten-free meals are also now offered. Also introduced this year is a selection of pizza and pide as well as steaks, fajitas and other 'granite plate' dishes, Adana/Anatolian kebabs, curries, and a small selection of "British" dishes - such as roast beef, Shepherds' Pie, liver and onions.
All meals are prepared individually and from fresh ingredients so you may experience a short delay between ordering and your dish being served. This is a great opportunity to sample traditional Turkish meze (appetisers) and get a real taste of Turkish cuisine. If you require help in choosing your dish, your waiter will be happy to help you.
After enjoying your sumptuous meal, where better to relax with friends than in the "kilim corner" with a drink and maybe even a traditional nargile or Turkish water pipe.
Oba09 also serves breakfasts and is open throughout the day for drinks, snacks and lunches including pizza, burgers and pasta. It backs a beautiful area of pristine beach front which is very popular with those wanting a relaxing day by the sea.
In the evenings especially, this is a very popular restaurant so reservations are always a good idea especially if you'd like one of the tables at the front facing out into the bay.
Whatever time of day you choose to visit, the established team - "Obam" and "Sunshine" - are always delighted to welcome you to their - and your - oba.
