Since taking over in 2011, owner Bektaş Güneş ("Beko") has developed this once-tired restaurant into one of Turunç's most highly-regarded locations. After many years travelling the world in the merchant navy, Beko has now made his home in Turunç. With hard work and imagination, he has created a truly welcoming environment at Güneş - "just like my Turkish home" he says.

Güneş has a beautiful beach-front location in the centre of Turunç bay and is popular with daytime visitors who love its well-tended beach area, comfortable sunbeds and attentive service. It serves traditional Turkish breakfasts and light snacks such as salads, burgers, omelettes, pide and pizza are available throughout the day.

Never content to stand still, this year’s Güneş menu has a distinctly Italian feel. Gone are the ubiquitous chips, rice and salads replaced with freshly made pastas, pizzas and grills. With new experienced chef Mehmet on hand, the menu choices are distinctly different to other village restaurants.

The extensive main menu at Güneş includes:

• a range of hot and cold starters and choice of salads
• home-made burgers and wraps
• a wide selection of freshly made pasta dishes such as Fettuccini Alfredo, Risotto Gorgonzola, Spaghetti Gamber
• a choice of freshly made and baked pizzas and Turkish-style pides

Main courses include such favourites as Sweet & Sour Chicken, Grilled Meatballs, Three-Mushroom Steak and Salmon Carpaccio.   The restaurant's "Show Menu" features a selection of lamb dishes cooked right at your table by the head chef.

If you are still hungry, a selection of home-made desserts like Panna Cotta and Lemon Cheesecake are sure to tempt you.

Vegan and gluten-free options are available on several dishes. Children’s portions are available on most dishes – just ask.

Güneş Restaurant’s traditional Turkish heritage reappears every Friday evening with a BBQ with live music starting at 8PM. The menu includes cold mezzes, a hot starter, Greek salad, a mixed grill – featuring six different meats, all rounded off with dessert or fruit. There is also a vegetarian option available. This is outstanding value at £20 per person. Pre-booking is advisable for this very popular event.

There is a good choice of soft and alcoholic drinks, and a selection of Turkish wines available to complete your visit. The restaurant also has a range of cocktails to tempt visitors. Güneş Restaurant is delighted to host special celebrations and can accommodate 75-100 people for private events. Celebration cakes can be created for special occasions.
