Opened for the 2016 season, Köşem BBQ Restaurant is the latest venture for local businessmen Ibrahim and Bilal Demir. With cousin Ali in charge, Köşem sees the welcome return of the well-known BBQ restaurant to Turunç.

Köşem means 'corner' and the restaurant is indeed easily found on the corner of 47 Sokak and Atatürk Caddesi which is the main road through Turunç out to Amos. Despite it's tranquil setting, the village centre is a mere 5 minute stroll away.

The restaurant offers customers a choice of seating. The spacious outdoor patio area, with its relaxing water feature, offers plenty of shade on warm summer days and evenings. The beautifully-designed indoor area is air-conditioned when the weather gets too hot and even has central heating for those cold winter months: yes, Köşem BBQ Restaurant is open all year-round!

Start your day with one of Köşem's tasty breakfasts - either full English or a traditional Turkish breakfast with freshly-baked village flat bread.

At lunchtime, Köşem BBQ Restaurant offers a wide range of lighter meals and snacks including omelettes, burgers, pizza and pide as well as a selection of sandwiches. A special favourite are the local pancakes (gözleme) with a range of savoury fillings such as cheese and meat.

The dinner menu at Köşem is varied and extensive. To start, there is a great choice of typically-Turkish mezzes to tempt you - both hot and cold - such as aubergine salad, haydari (a thick and tangy Turkish yoghurt dip), stuffed calamari and cheese rolls. Main course choices are both Turkish and 'international' in style and include Adana kebab, lamb casserole and swordfish fillet. The restaurant has a real tandoori oven and several tandoori main courses are on offer.

• "Red's" - like Beef Stroganoff, Testi Kebab
• "White's" - such as Chicken with mushrooms, Spit-roasted Chicken (every Wednesday)
• "From the Sea" - including Trout with Mushrooms, Fried Mussels, Grilled Octopus

Every Wednesday evening in the season, the restaurant hosts a spit-roast chicken evening; the set menu includes:

• a selection of & cold starters
• a roast chicken main course with accompaniments
• a dessert of the day

At just 350TL per person (drinks extra), and including entertainment by a Turkish belly-dancer, this is great value and not to be missed.

Köşem BBQ Restaurant offers a tempting range of vegetarian dishes and also a "Kid's Menu" for those with smaller appetites.

The restaurant has an extensive bar. There is a range of soft drinks on offer including fresh orange juice and milk shakes and a wide selection of beers, wines and local and imported alcoholic drinks.

Adjacent to the restaurant is a small convenience shop and a cabinet selling locally produced products such as honey, olive oil and herbs.

Also part of the restaurant team is Şerife Demir (Ibrahim's niece). Şerife grows and sells a wide selection of cactus and succulent plants with 50% of all proceeds being donated to Spinal Muscular Atrophy support for treatment of this rare condition in infants.
